Via its LEAP apprenticeship scheme, Microsoft is announcing a software engineer apprenticeship cohort expected to take place in Nairobi, Kenya.

A sixteen-week modern engineering acceleration apprenticeship program focused on encouraging and cultivating fresh and diverse talents is the Microsoft LEAP apprenticeship program.

5-weeks of technical and non-technical learning instructor-led classes and labs. Ten-week engineering project with a Microsoft product team immersion project. This is generally with the funding of the program by the Microsoft team. During this time, mentors and leads are allocated.

Then a one-week project fair to demonstrate their engineering project to the participants. During the presentations, hiring managers are present to see the body of work and future interview that may lead to a recruitment or job offer.

This specific call is for senior software engineers with advanced programming or technological experience of about eight years.

As Microsoft is not offering relocation, the ideal software engineer applicant should be allowed to work in Kenya for the duration of the program. Kenyan citizens, essentially.

On March 15th, the cohort will start and will be virtual.

The application portal will be open until 9 February.
